It sits high above the street and faces south, so the sun shines in all day, bouncing off the beautifully refinished hardwood floors and the tall white walls and high ceiling. At night, turn on the antique-style crystal chandeliers and modern wall-mounted sconce lighting, and a most romantic mood is set for viewing the Eiffel Tower all aglow and the twinkling lights of the city. With the bedroom's partitioned wall open, the front room can be appreciated in all its glory, providing a feeling of light and space that is sure to please. Close it up at night, and everyone has privacy. Although many guests love leaving the curtains open at night so they can see the Eiffel Tower all lit up, the beautiful silk curtains are lined so you can shut out the light, and the windows in our Paris apartments are double-glazed to ensure a quiet night's sleep.

Looking from the front room back towards the kitchen, notice the sky-light opening above the cupboards, as well as the halogen lighting above and below the cabinets. We know that light and space are important to our guests, so our renovations always try to capture as much as possible. We also try to infuse a Parisian sense of flair in our decorative touches, such as the framed prints on the wall and the knickknacks on the shelves. We like our guests to have constant reminders that they are visiting one of the most beautiful cities in the world, so we decorate our Paris apartments in all things Parisian. We want the time you spend within our Paris vacation apartments to be as enjoyable as your time spent sightseeing Paris.

As your eyes gaze about the large front living area of Chablis, you first find a large sofa against the left wall that easily converts into a double bed at night. The friendly English-speaking greeter who welcomes you at the front door of the building will show you how to do it, as well as explain all of the buildings security locks, how the kitchen appliances work, and how to operate Chablis' entertainment systems.

Next to the sofa is a built-in bookcase displaying a fashionable array of French bric-a-brac as well as the CD player. Between the first two French doors, all of which are adorned with brown-toned silk drapes, sits a TV stand supporting the large flat-screen TV and dual-standard DVD player. Be sure to bring your laptop, as there is free high-speed Internet access, and the phone system allows free calling to just about everywhere.

Enjoy free satellite TV and other entertainment amenities
Most of our Paris apartment rentals come equipped with flat-screen TVs that receive English-speaking channels such as CNN, BBC, and CNBC. They also feature dual-standard DVD players, making it fun to watch movies filmed in Paris to see who is the first to recognize the landmarks and street scenes you've visited during your stay. You'll also find a CD player, wireless Internet access, and telephone service that lets you make free calls around the world (see our 'Details' section).

As this picture shows, the bedroom portion of the front room is quite large and very beautiful, with its antique-style crystal chandelier, complementing ornate mirror, and high, crown-molded ceiling. And there's no reason to leave this space unused during the day, as the bed's extra pillows make it an inviting place to lounge, perhaps perusing the many guidebooks we leave for you or catching up on your emails with the use of Chablis' free wireless high-speed Internet.

Whether you choose to leave the curtains open for views of the Eiffel Tower or close them to darken the room, you can be assured of a quiet night's sleep because we install double-glazed glass in all of the windows and doors of our Paris apartments to dampen the street noise.

The layout of Chablis' kitchen allows those who are preparing or cleaning up after meals to continue the conversation with those in the living room. Just like at home, the L-shaped bar can be a convivial meeting place as you decant the wine and slice up some fruit and cheese after returning from sightseeing. The most important aspect of Chablis' kitchen, however, is the significant cost savings you'll reap compared to staying at a hotel and having to dine out all of the time. They are never afterthoughts designed for function alone, but integrated parts of a total Parisian experience, as enjoyable to look at as it is to use. Who can resist lounging in such a full-size, elegantly designed tub after a long day of sightseeing? Should your partner choose to shower during your spa-like soak, no problem! A large hot water tank, rare by Paris standards let alone for a studio/one-bedroom, provides all of the hot water you'll need. When you're done, wrap yourself in one of the fluffy white towels from the heated towel rack!

Paris is certainly fun and exciting for adults, but it is also magical for the children. Cross the street to discover four playgrounds in the Champ de Mars gardens, including an ancient hand-cranked carousel and puppet theater. The park provides a rare green space to sit and enjoy while you're in Paris.

Our Chablis apartment is a short walk from the Ecole Militaire, at the far end of Champ de Mars, where Napoléon attended military school. This became Napoleon's headquarters and housed his elite Emperor's Troops in 1795. The buildings still show gunfire signs from the French Revolution in 1789 and the shelling when the Prussians declared war on France in 1870 to defeat Napoleon III. There are four statues on the façade representing: Might, Peace, Victory, and France. The statue of Victory is of Louis XV. Few of them remain as the rest were destroyed during the French Revolution.
