Our Echézeaux vacation rental in Paris, France is an extraordinary addition to our property portfolio due to both its location on the historic Ile de la Cité and its remarkable renovation that retained much of its old world charm.

It is difficult to describe the immensely rewarding experience of living in a gorgeous apartment in the center of Paris's illustrious history. Wake every morning to this view of Place Dauphine, the ancient square of centuries-old buildings laid out in 1607; or step outside and visit Notre Dame, Palais de Justice or the magical Saint-Chapelle cathedral. In addition to fabulous sightseeing, there are numerous excellent bistros, restaurants and shops just outside your door.

Welcome to our Echézeaux vacation rental in Paris, France!
Echézeaux is perfect for families and has been designed to offer captivating open living space along with privacy and 'time alone' in the upstairs bedrooms. It easily accommodates six people with its spacious interior (800-square-feet) and the addition of a comfortable double sofa bed in the living room.

The apartment has been fully restored to it original beauty and the warm tones of beige, brown and red complement the parquet floors and beamed ceiling. A stylish steel staircase takes you to the bedrooms upstairs and the kitchen is to the right.

Please note that this apartment is located on the third floor and is accessed by a stone staircase. This beautiful old building does not have an elevator but the view and surroundings are definitely worth the walk up the stairs!

We love Echézeaux's living room - it faces a beautiful fireplace and has the original beamed ceilings to give a feeling of warmth and welcome. The large window also provides a gorgeous view of the famous Place Dauphine below.

To the left of the window is a large flat screen TV with a dual standard DVD player, so you can bring you favorite movies and watch them during your 'down time' in Paris. In the closet next to the dining table is the stereo so you can tune in your favorite music.

The cream-colored sofa converts into a double sofa bed and is flanked by two beautiful wooden lamps. The sofa bed is meant for every night sleeping and flips open without having to remove the seat or back cushions. The original painting above the sofa has highlights of red that are picked up by the decorative cushions. We named this apartment Echézeaux after one of the world's great burgundy wines - a wine that requires extensive aging to produce a beautiful velvety feel and an aromatic finish of dark fruit, spices, and minerals. And that is exactly what you sense as you step onto this richly historic island and then enter this striking apartment, savoring its warm earth-toned colors with red accents along with its extraordinarily high beamed ceilings.

The ceilings of our Echezeaux vacation rental are over 11 feet high, which you can appreciate when you look down from the staircase into the living room. Long beige silk curtains grace the beautiful windows and the fireplace adds a touch of glamour.

There is an old chandelier above the table for a touch of charm and a wall of storage closets on the right. There is a safe for your valuables inside the closet, which you can program yourself.

The kitchen is compact but amazingly efficient; there is a built-in microwave, a small dishwasher, a convection oven, coffee pot, toaster and two burner electric stove. There is a separate washer and dryer upstairs.

Snuggle up in bed with a great book or watch a movie on your flat screen TV. We provide a dual-standard DVD player, so you can bring your own movies from home or rent French ones nearby. Children can also use this room during the day, while parents enjoy each others company in the living room below. There is also a small desk in the corner of the room where you can plug in your laptop and connect to our free wireless internet.

The compact second bedroom has special bunk beds that flip into the wall when not in use. At night, simply pull open and voilà two quality single beds. The ladder pulls down and a safety railing pulls up so there is no risk of falling out of bed.

The system is reminiscent of the famous couchette compartments on European trains, taken to a higher level for our apartment rental in Paris.

Centuries old buildings surround the tree-lined square
This tree-lined Square just outside the Echézeaux apartment rental is so beautiful that you will want to photograph every old building. This Square is one of the most historic in Paris and has not been touched in centuries.

When you've finished admiring the architecture, take a short walk to Sainte-Chapelle, the ethereal and magical cathedral hailed as one of the greatest architectural masterpieces of the Western world. Marvel at its 15 magnificent stained-glass windows separated by the narrowest of columns that soar 50 feet up to the star-studded, vaulted roof. Walk just one block more from our Paris apartment rental to the Crypte Archéologique, which lies under the square fronting Notre-Dame, to see the 2,000-year-old remains of the original Roman settlement.

Numerous excellent bistros and restaurants outside your door
On tree-lined Place Dauphine, where our Paris apartment rental is located, you will find one of the prettiest squares in Paris with four fantastic restaurants. Or walk one block in either direction from our apartment and cross the Pont Neuf, the oldest bridge in Paris, to the Left or the Right Bank to find more brasseries and bistros on either side of the Seine.

Palais de Justice is located at the far end of the square
At the far end of this exquisite square is the Palais de Justice, where two stone lions grace its elegant staircase. You can also visit the Conciergerie, the grisly antechamber to the guillotine where Henri IV's assassin, the religious fanatic Ravaillac, was imprisoned prior to his execution. During the Revolution this superb four-aisled Gothic Hall of the Men-at-Arms housed more than 4,000 prisoners, including Marie-Antoinette and even the Revolutionary judges Danton and Robespierre - no, none were safe!

Pont Neuf takes you to Left Bank cafés and Musee d' Orsay
Step out of the Echézeaux apartment rental in Paris, walk one block in either direction and you are at the Seine River! Cross the Pont Neuf, actually the oldest bridge in Paris to the Left Bank or the Right Bank. You can see the rooftops of the Louvre Museum just beyond. A few minutes away is the Musée d'Orsay. And of course, all of the wonderful cafés, bistros and restaurants of the Left Bank!

While there is so much to do and see on this fascinating island and on the nearby banks of the Seine, there is so much more - literally at your fingertips - within very easy walking distance of our Paris apartment rental. On the Right Bank you have the Louvre, the world's greatest museum, only five minutes away, as is the Samaritaine department store. Rue de Rivoli is loaded with shops as is the multi-leveled Les Halles, just a few blocks beyond.
Think unmatched shopping and sightseeing with inexpensive meals thrown in between. Of course, you won't want to miss visiting the highly ornate Hôtel de Ville, a reconstruction of the 17th-century town hall featuring elaborate stonework, turrets, and statues overlooking a delightful pedestrian square.

Paris is all about food, as these luscious strawberries from the open market attest. Growers, fishermen and small producers drive in from the countryside at the crack of dawn to set up and sell their fresh fruit and vegetables, flowers and produce to discerning Parisians.
