  • Apartment in Marais with Balcony

Sauternes vacation rental has two balconies!
Our Sauternes Paris vacation rental features two balconies, one off the living room and the other off of the master bedroom, so you are spoiled for choice. Step out and savor Paris and the beautiful Parisian buildings in the charming Marais neighborhood.

  • Marais Apartment with Balcony

Enjoy your morning croissant and coffee on the balcony
There is a small bistro table on the living room balcony and the view of the buildings 'en face' is simply charming. On sunny mornings, enjoy a leisurely breakfast on the balcony of our Sauternes Paris vacation rental with warm croissants from the patisserie on the corner and café au lait from our Nespresso machine.

  • Marais Apartment Rental

An apartment in the Marais to fall in love with
We fell in love with this Marais apartment the moment we stepped onto the balcony. The building is in a unique position, because it is at the end of a one-way street which turns a small corner. This means the grand Haussman-style buildings 'en face' are set back and it also means the street is somewhat hidden.

When we realized that the views offered such a feeling of space, which is very rare in the Marais, we bought it on the spot. We immediately named the apartment Sauternes, after the sweet white dessert wine produced in the Bordeaux wine-making area of France. This wine is so rich and intense that it is often served as a dessert all by itself, just like the experience you'll have savoring the sweet views and amenities of this richly appointed Paris vacation rental.

  • Sauternes Apartment in Marais

Welcome to our Sauternes furnished apartment in Paris!
Take the elevator to the second floor (third floor American, with elevator) and step into the entryway of our Sauternes furnished apartment in Paris. This entryway is spacious and welcoming; find an old wooden window frame with mirror inside that sits above an antiqued white table. We used rust colored lampshades on pretty twisted iron candlesticks from Belgium.

The door to the first bathroom is to the left of the table. To the right of the front door is a closet which contains the separate washer and dryer by Miele. Further left of the apartment entryway is the second bathroom and finally the second bedroom.

  • We try to think of everything to make your stay perfect

Entryway leads to the richly appointed dining room/kitchen
We love the richly appointed dining room/kitchen in our Sauternes Paris vacation rental. The dining table sits on the beautifully refinished oak parquet floor and expands to easily seat eight for dinner. A pretty fresco hangs at the end of the room with two rabbit coat hooks (Monsieurs Lapins) on either side.

Beyond you see the spacious entryway with console table and rust shaded lamps. You can see that the front doors in our Paris vacation rentals have extremely good door bolts and locks as an added feature. We have also installed a safe for your valuables.

The door to the right of the entryway is the other entrance to the master bathroom -- there is a double entrance to the bathroom, from the entry and from the master bedroom for guest's convenience.

  • Marais Apartment Kitchen

Modern kitchen with plenty of light and charming views
The the thoroughly modern kitchen of our Sauternes apartment has been pleasingly decorated with a long worktop, blond wood cabinets, and stainless steel fixtures and appliances. Most of the upper cabinet doors are made of matching sandblasted glass and, when illuminated at night along with the under-the-counter recessed lighting and the beautiful chandelier above the dining table, the effect is quite dramatic.

Two large French windows open out to create a feeling of light and space as well as absolutely charming views of the beautiful Haussman-style building across the street. You simply can't find such a beautiful and intimate setting like this in most Paris vacation rental kitchens.

  • Round mirror reflects the Parisian clock in the kitchen

  • Sauternes Self-catering Marais Apartment

Fully-equipped kitchen so you can prepare your own meals
The kitchen is fully outfitted with everything you need to prepare daily meals. Find a full-size refrigerator with freezer, dishwasher, convection oven, separate microwave, four-burner stove, toaster, Nespresso machine, coffee maker, and all of the pots, pans, and utensils you'll need. There is also a full complement of porcelain dishes, cutlery, glasses, and quality linens to set an immaculate table. Choosing Paris vacation rentals over hotel rooms is an easy decision when you add up the cost savings of not having to dine out for every meal.

  • Sauternes Paris Apartment Kitchen

Spacious dining room/kitchen leads to the living room
We love the contrast of the restored parquet floors, the large windows and high ceilings in the dining room and kitchen with the modern furniture in our Sauternes Paris vacation rental. The dark wood and sanded glass dining table, chocolate leather chairs and chandelier accent the room and create a warm feeling. On the far wall is an old 'oeuil de boeuf' mirror hanging above a white table.

The opening to the left leads to the cozy living room, with three sets of French doors that open out to a balcony and charming views of the old street.

  • Air Conditioned Marais Apartment

Air conditioned living room has a feeling of space and light
We opened up both sides of the dining room/kitchen to give a wonderful feeling of space and light in the living area. The apartment also offers the advantage of air conditioning, with two large portable units that vent to the outside. This is rare and a real plus on those warm days in Paris over most other Paris vacation rentals.

  • Living Room - Sauternes Apartment in Marais

French doors in living room open onto the balcony
The living room of our Sauternes Paris vacation rental has an amazing three sets of French doors. Step onto the balcony and enjoy a glass of champagne at sunset or café au lait on sunny mornings. The local bakery is literally on the next corner so you can buy warm, flakey croissants and enjoy a leisurely morning in your Paris vacation rental!

In the evening, relax in front of the large flat-screen TV with dual-standard DVD player (don't forget to bring your favorite movies from home) or listen to music on the CD stereo system. We've also included free wireless Internet access so you can catch up on your emails.

  • Sauternes Apartment Living Room Paris

Provencal-style living room of our Sauternes vacation rental
The living room of our Sauternes vacation rental is decorated in Provencal style, with a cream sofa accented with pretty yellow check cushions. The comfortable armchairs were made for us in Belgium and are covered in a beige and yellow wool plaid fabric that complements the striped curtains. The original marble fireplace (decorative only) is on the left, and a small coffee table rests on the polished oak parquet floor. A beautiful crystal chandelier that highlights the high ceiling's intricate crown molding completes this warm and inviting room.

The sofa flips open easily at night - no need to remove the seat or back cushions. It converts to an extra wide single bed that is meant for every night sleeping with wooden slats rather than webbing for support. We buy top of the line sofa beds that are made for us in Italy and guests who stay in our Paris vacation rentals tell us they are excellent.

  • Sauternes Paris Vacation Apartment Rental

Beautifully furnished with a mix of modern and antique
We mixed modern furniture with white antiqued woods in our Sauternes Paris vacation rental, to create a warm and inviting Paris vacation rental for your stay. The lithograph of a Louis XVI chair on a black background caught our eye, softly illuminated by the tall wooden lamp on the fireplace.

  • 2 Bedroom Marais Apartment

Master bedroom with queen bed, balcony and en suite bathroom
The master bedroom of our Sauternes apartment in Paris can be accessed via the living room or from the en suite bathroom (immediately to the left off the entryway). This charming bedroom features a second balcony which, again, is very rare in Paris vacation rentals.

The bedroom has an extra wide queen-size bed with a wood and cane headboard in Provencal style framed by two bedside tables with good reading lamps. We order the highest quality mattresses for our Paris vacation rentals, the kind supplied to luxury hotels in Paris.

A large and beautiful antique armoire is on your left and facing the bed is a large marble fireplace (decorative only). Just beyond the bed is the entrance to the en suite bathroom.

  • Two Bedroom Furnished Apartment in Paris

Enjoy breakfast in bed or dine on your private balcony
The French doors in the master bedroom open onto the balcony of our Sauternes furnished apartment in Paris. It's a treat to step out and enjoy morning in Paris or sit outside on sunny days and relax with your coffee.

The original marble fireplace adds a warm romantic touch with the electrified chandelier on the mantle. The over-sized mirror leads your eyes up to the high ceiling's finely crafted crown molding and beautiful crystal chandelier. To the right of the fireplace is a pretty antique style desk where you can download emails and stay in touch with home or the office during your down time.

  • Oil painting of Victorian women

Oil painting of Victorian women purchased from flea market
An oil painting of an earlier era; Victorian women 'en promenade' in a French City and some of the first automobiles in a Northern city.

The Sauternes Paris vacation rental apartment belonged to an elderly couple who had moved to the suburbs several years previously. The Paris apartment had not been touched in 20 years and featured loud striped wallpaper, net curtains, gray and blue linoleum check floors in the kitchen and aqua blue and black bathroom tiles.

The story of our purchase of this Paris apartment rental was one for the books, as are most of them. The owners had scheduled a day of appointments to show it and could only fit us in late afternoon. We pleaded with them to let us view it in the morning as we were driving back to London afterwards. They kindly agreed. We saw the beautiful features immediately and we agreed to their asking price offer on the spot. As we were writing the important written offer to be signed by all parties to finalize the sale of the Paris apartment, the doorbell rang. Uh oh, the husband told us that they might have verbally agreed to sell it to someone else. 'Did you sign anything?', Philippe asked. The answer was no, but they did not want to talk to the other person. They asked Philippe to go to the door and explain that the apartment was sold. We made small talk as we heard Philippe tell the disappointed party that 'Malheureusement, l'appartement est' vendu.', with lots of discussion to follow. Afterwards, the husband said that he preferred to sell to Philippe because he was a doctor who had graduated from the difficult Paris internship system 'interne des hôpitaux de Paris'. He confided with using old-fashioned French: 'Les médecins ne sont pas des margoulins'. ('Doctors are not dishonest or incompetent' so I trust you more than the other buyer').

  • Bedroom Paris Vacation Apartment Rental

Beautiful crystal chandeliers and an antique oak armoire
The crystal chandelier lights up the master bedroom of our Sauternes Paris vacation rental. Another chandelier style lamp with a footman carrying candles sits on the original marble fireplace. Find the antique oak armoire with rod for hanging and shelves inside. To the right of the fireplace is a pretty oil painting of Victorian women in a flower market.

  • Victorian ladies in Paris

Painting of Victorian ladies at a Parisian flower market
Victorian ladies at a Parisian flower market in the master bedroom of our Paris vacation rental.

  • Furnished Apartment in Paris En Suite Bathroom

View from master bedroom towards en suite bathroom
Just beyond the bed is the entrance to the en suite bathroom. We wanted some of the warm natural light from the bedroom to pass into the bathroom, so we removed the upper wooden panel of the original door and replaced it with sanded glass. Don't worry, we installed a roller blind inside, so you can close it and not disturb your sleeping partner at night.

We love to contrast antique and modern decoration, which the solid oak armoire from Normandy does with the ultra modern bathroom in our Sauternes furnished apartment. Madelyn bought the armoire before measuring the ceiling height and there was a panic between Philippe and the builder who thought the ceilings might be too low. We were tempted to remove the beautiful wood carving at the top in order to make it fit, but discovered that the ceilings of the Sauternes Paris vacation rental are almost 11 feet high, with ample clearance for the armoire. Whew!

  • 2 Bedroom Furnished Apartment in Paris

Bedroom 2 has two single beds and a desk with free internet
Our Sauternes furnished apartment in Paris has two nice-sized bedrooms, perfect for a family or two couples.

The pretty second bedroom is decorated in blue primrose stripes with toile de jouy bedspreads on the single beds. The beds can be zipped together to make an extra-wide queen if preferred. We found the charming fresco headboards at a flea market, with scenes of angels and flowers on a pale blue background. There is a small console desk next to the window and of course free internet in the apartment rental.

  • Second Bedroom

Plenty of good lighting for reading in bed or at the desk
The blue striped curtains add a clean country look - all illuminated with a crystal chandelier and bedside lamps. It's important to have good lighting to read by, something we have found in scarce supply when traveling throughout France. You can choose to read in bed or pull up a chair at the small desk. Don't forget to bring your laptop so you can connect to our free wireless internet!

Pretty hand painted prints of life in the 1800's adorn the walls and there is a large built-in closet to the right of the beds.

Some of the small features such as plenty of hooks behind doors and in the bathroom, air conditioning, large hot water tanks and good lighting are not easy to think of when you're searching for a Paris vacation rental but we try to think of everything so you don't have to!

  • Master bathroom is en suite to the master bedroom

Master bathroom is en suite to the master bedroom
The layout of our Sauternes Paris vacation rental is ideal for four or five people because there are two bathrooms which can be accessed independently from the two bedrooms. The master bathroom is en suite and features a bathtub-shower combination, so you can soak in a warm bath at the end of a long day, a toilet and sink. We remodeled the bathroom with beige marble tiles, with tiny mosaics around the mirror and as a frieze along the bathroom wall.

The sink counter of the bathroom is in beige marble, with a single glass shelf underneath.

We found a delightful lithograph in pale violet to hang on the wall next to the sink.

  • The bathtub/shower in the Master bathroom

The bathtub-shower in the master bathroom
We took this picture just before we finished the Sauternes Paris vacation rental, but there are two Victorian style hooks on either side of the lithograph of books and two more hooks on the other side of the sink along with a heated radiator/towel rail.

Another important feature about our Paris vacation rentals which you don't notice until you stay with us; we install 80 gallon hot water tanks in most of our Paris apartments, the largest available for domestic use. Parisians are sometimes 'radin' or stinge-y when it comes to light bulbs and hot water, and we had a number of 're-does' with our builders who had to return tiny hot water tanks or add more plugs and lights. We think that for our guests, the added comfort in our rentals is worth it.

  • 2 Bathroom Marais Apartment

Bathroom 2 is next to the second bedroom
From the entryway, head right past the closet housing the clothes washer and separate dryer and enter the newly remodeled second bathroom of our Paris vacation rental. The bathroom is decorated in beige and brown tile and features a full-sized shower with large fixed shower head, a modern sink and toilet. There is an 80 gallon hot water tank hiding behind the closet, the largest we could buy and a rarity in most Paris apartment rentals.

  • Place des Vosges, Paris, France

The exquisite Place des Vosges is three short blocks away!
We knew that the Sauternes Paris vacation rental was close to the Place des Vosges, to the Picasso Museum, the Musée Carnavalet and the delightful rue de Turenne, which is full of shops and restaurants - but we didn't realize how close until Madelyn took a wrong turn while walking to the supermarket and came upon the Grand entrance to the Place des Vosges.
This photo, taken on a cold winter's day when the trees were bare doesn't do this beautiful Place justice. It is astonishing and a monument to the grand era of Kings in France.

  • Paris Brasserie - 3rd Arrondissement

One of our favorite brasseries is two blocks away
There are scores of excellent and reasonably priced restaurants and brasseries near to the Sauternes Paris vacation apartment rental, more than you can try in a single week.

We only select vacation rentals located in safe and bustling neighborhoods in the center of Paris. They must be near to 'butchers, bakers and candlestick makers', with reasonably priced and excellent restaurants and brasseries.

When we started Paris Perfect, we asked ourselves what we ourselves and our family would enjoy experience and seeing the most in Paris' and we built our company and our Paris vacation rentals around that idea.

  • Patisserie Paris France

Buy some mouth-watering treats from a nearby patisserie
You'll love tasting the many fancy sweets on display in bakery windows in the Marais. Our guests love picking out desserts for their meals.

  • rue de Turennes Paris Boutiques

Trendy Parisian shops and restaurants along rue de Turennes
The busy rue de Turennes is around the corner and is packed with cafés, restaurants and trendy boutiques such as this one for children. It takes you past the Picasso Museum and the Carnavalet Museum.

  • Trend setting shops

Marais district is full of trendy shops
More trend setting shops around the corner from the Sauternes Paris vacation rental.

  • Boulangerie - Marais, Paris

Buy fresh baguettes from the bakery around the corner
An excellent bakery around the corner from your Paris vacation rental. In France you differentiate between a baker and a pastry maker. Some are good at both, but in general a baker is where you buy your daily baguette or specialty bread - and possibly your dessert, but not always. A Patisserie shop, however, specializes in desserts and that is generally where you find the best and finest pastries. This is part of the fun for you and your family in discovering Paris when you stay in a Paris vacation rental, shopping for the ingredients for breakfast, dinner and dessert. Send children on a mission from the Paris vacation rental apartment every day, to find their favorite Patisserie or Bakery (Boulangerie) and let them taste and learn about one of the fundamentals of French culture, the food. Paris comes alive for them and they fall in love with the City as you will.

  • Le Marché des Enfants Route Paris Market

Walk to Paris' oldest market, Le Marché des Enfants Route
Ten minutes walk from the Sauternes Paris vacation rental is one of the oldest covered markets in Paris, Le Marché des Enfants Route. It was the name of a Catholic Orphanage founded in the 16th century that took in abandoned children. They were dressed in red uniforms, thus the name The Market of the Red Children. In 1777, the Mission moved premises and the site was converted to a covered market. Find organic produce, cheeses, wines, specialty foods and more in this delightful market.

  • rue de Bretagne Greengrocer, Paris

Shop for food along the famous rue de Bretagne market street
The Sauternes Paris vacation rental apartment is surrounded by shops, markets and wonderful restaurants, cafés and bistros. Walk a few blocks and you are on the famous market street, rue de Bretagne. This is where you want to do your serious food shopping and you find excellent pastry shops, cheese shops, greengrocers, butchers etc on this street. Being near to excellent Open Markets is an essential feature for all of our Paris vacation rentals - a delight for guests who come back time and again.

Your Sauternes apartment was of course perfect, but your kindness and thoughtfulness go beyond that! How extremely sweet of you to remember that it was my sister-in-law's birthday,(and to have the politeness not to mention the number in your note) and to leave us the bottle of champagne for celebration. And celebrate we did, for the whole week.
