Views from the Apartment

  • Straight-on view of the Eiffel Tower from large French doors in the living room, dining room, family room, and master bedroom, as well as from the oversized balcony.

In the Neighborhood

  • Champ de Mars is one block and Ecole Militaire métro is 3; three main buses stop only three blocks away.
  • Only a 10-minute walk to the Invalides, where Napoléon’s tomb rests under the golden dome. It also houses the Musée de l’Armée, the finest collection of arms, armor, and uniforms in the world.

  • Walk seven blocks to the incredible Rodin Museum and only four blocks to Chirac’s new Museum of Ethnic Arts.

  • The Ecole Militaire, where Napoléon attended military school, sits at the east end of Champ de Mars. It was once Napoleon’s headquarters and housed his elite Emperor’s Troops in 1795. It still shows signs of gunfire from the French Revolution and the shelling when the Prussians declared war on France in 1870.

  • One block to the Eiffel Tower and Champ de Mars. The Champ de Mars Park is a rare bonus in Paris as there are few large parks. Walk, run, play basketball, watch children play in 1 of 3 playgrounds, go to the puppet theater, or just sit and enjoy. Nearby skating and bike rental are fun activities, especially after strenuous sightseeing. This is especially attractive for families, because children need to have time to enjoy playing along with visiting museums during their stay in Paris.

  • Rue du Commerce, a lively French neighborhood near La Motte Piquet métro, is a 10 minutes away from our apartment in Paris. Find excellent fresh foods, loads of clothing stores, and perfume shops, as well as the Monoprix department store (a French Target), with a supermarket on the first floor - good quality and great prices!

  • Ave de Saxe, open on Thursdays and Saturdays, features some of the most beautiful organic and deluxe food stands in Paris.

  • Rue de Grenelle, open on Wednesdays and Sundays, has excellent prices and is located a short walk from our apartment in Paris, in the 15th arrondissement (across and left of Champs de Mars).

  • Pont de l'Alma is only five minutes away (The largest open market in Paris - open every Wednesday and Saturday morning).

  • Rue Cler, the best and most famous street for food shops in Paris, is only six blocks away from our apartment in Paris (Open every day including Sunday morning, but many shops are closed on Mondays). Here you can ask our favorite cheese merchant what cheese you want and what day you wish to consume it and they’ll hand pick the perfect selection!

  • Open Food Markets: The 7th arrondissement has more open food markets than any other quartier in Paris, and merchants come from all over France with their best wines, fruits, vegetables, flowers, fish, Brittany lobster, pâtés, breads - even five types of escargots!

  • 20 minutes to the Bon Marché department store.

  • 30 minutes to the department stores on Blvd. Haussman.

  • 25 minutes to the Place de la Concorde, La Madeleine.

  • 20 minutes to the Champs Elysées and new Louis Vuitton flagship store.

  • Our apartment in Paris is only 15 minutes from the Four Seasons George V or Plaza Athenee’ Hotel where the final episode of ‘Sex and the City’ was filmed. Enjoy afternoon tea or 3-star dining after a day of sightseeing and further appreciate staying in Tokay with its unforgettable views even more when you see the prices of their rooms!

  • The Grand Couturiers on Ave. Montaigne are only 15 minutes away; shop to your heart’s content at Dior, Chanel, Hermes, Givenchy, Valentino, Bonpoint, Ungaro, Ynes de la Fressange, Loewe, Bulgari, Ferragamo, Max Mara, Scherrer, Jimmy Choo, the outrageous Jean-Paul Gaultier and many, many more (Please see our link on Paris Shopping for more details).

  • Only a 12-minute walk to the Trocadéro and the Grand Palais where World Famous Art Exhibitions are held.

  • Short walk to the Seine and the famous Bateaux Mouches boat tours.

  • Champ de Mars is one block and Ecole Militaire métro is 3; three main buses stop only three blocks away.

Summary

  • Our apartment in Paris is close to the American Library, where you can take out a daily membership and catch up on the news and use their internet facilities.

  • Extremely safe location in the 7th arrondissement, the most popular neighborhood in Paris.

  • Sixth floor (7th floor American) means our apartment in Paris is bright and high above the street, and the insulated glass windows mean the rooms are quiet with the windows closed.

  • Sweeping views over and the rooftops of Paris from every window in the apartment.

Unusual Decorations Add Character to the Apartment
This Paris apartment was named 'Tokay' after what is considered to be one of the fine wines of the world. Known as the wine of emperors, kings, and cardinals, Tokay is a sweet desert wine that stays fresh almost forever once it has been bottled. Once you step into this apartment in Paris, you can't help but agree that this is one sweet perch that will never lose its appeal. The strongest point is the view of the Eiffel Tower from the living room, dining room, den, master bedroom and the oversized balcony that fronts both the family room (and 4th bedroom) and the master bedroom. In addition, there are three mobile air conditioners for your added comfort on those warm days.

You are only two blocks from the famous rue Cler, where you can shop for the finest foods and enjoy dinners with the best view in Paris. You are four doors away from one of my favorite Patisserie's where you'll labor over your choice for warm croissants or pains au chocolat in the morning or between numerous dessert choices in the evening.

There are also 3 open markets in the neighborhood, the most of any arrondissement in Paris and a highlight of your stay. Choose between the freshest French ingredients as your stroll the markets, from cheeses to meats to fruits, vegetables and flowers. You'll find that shopping excursions to Paris' open markets will be one of the highlights of your stay.

  • Apartment in Paris - Dining Table

Antique Prints and a Modern Table on the Original Oak Floors
A very modern and stylish table and chairs is the centerpiece, with a mix of modern and period art and eclectic lighting to set the mood. You'll be able to relax and fully enjoy being with friends and relatives in your home away from home.

Every hour after dark, for ten minutes thrill to the special light show, where 20,000 lights sparkle in the night on the Tower.

Two armoires or closets serve as storage in the master and a halogen uplight helps to illuminate the room. The closet on the left is for hanging and the one on the right has shelves. The family room can easily be transformed into a fourth bedroom at night, as the long sofa converts to two separate twin beds. We prefer these long sofas to regular hide-a-beds because you can stretch out and catnap during the day - and have two separate beds for flexibility at night. Arranged so that you can lie in bed and gaze out at the Eiffel Tower, guests will be drawing straws to see who gets to sleep here. The location of our Tokay apartment is a rare feature because there are few open parks in the center of Paris. The Champs de Mars gardens which surrounds the Eiffel Tower is one of them and it is literally 2 blocks away. French families have lived here for generations and on Sundays you see the grandparents who love to take their grandchildren out to the same playgrounds where they and their children played. It's a wonderful part of your vacation to come here, picnic and relax. In the mornings, you can run around them as the cadets from the Ecole Militaire do.

Even though Tokay is bathed in sunlight, you'll certainly want to experience the ambiance and social atmosphere of this local pastime, not to mention the people watching.
