In the Neighborhood
- Champ de Mars is one block and Ecole Militaire métro is 3; three main buses stop only three blocks away.
- Only a 10-minute walk to the Invalides, where Napoléon’s tomb rests under the golden dome. It also houses the Musée de l’Armée, the finest collection of arms, armor, and uniforms in the world.
- Walk seven blocks to the incredible Rodin Museum and only four blocks to Chirac’s new Museum of Ethnic Arts.
- The Ecole Militaire, where Napoléon attended military school, sits at the east end of Champ de Mars. It was once Napoleon’s headquarters and housed his elite Emperor’s Troops in 1795. It still shows signs of gunfire from the French Revolution and the shelling when the Prussians declared war on France in 1870.
- One block to the Eiffel Tower and Champ de Mars. The Champ de Mars Park is a rare bonus in Paris as there are few large parks. Walk, run, play basketball, watch children play in 1 of 3 playgrounds, go to the puppet theater, or just sit and enjoy. Nearby skating and bike rental are fun activities, especially after strenuous sightseeing. This is especially attractive for families, because children need to have time to enjoy playing along with visiting museums during their stay in Paris.
- Rue du Commerce, a lively French neighborhood near La Motte Piquet métro, is a 10 minutes away from our apartment in Paris. Find excellent fresh foods, loads of clothing stores, and perfume shops, as well as the Monoprix department store (a French Target), with a supermarket on the first floor - good quality and great prices!
- Ave de Saxe, open on Thursdays and Saturdays, features some of the most beautiful organic and deluxe food stands in Paris.
- Rue de Grenelle, open on Wednesdays and Sundays, has excellent prices and is located a short walk from our apartment in Paris, in the 15th arrondissement (across and left of Champs de Mars).
- Pont de l'Alma is only five minutes away (The largest open market in Paris - open every Wednesday and Saturday morning).
- Rue Cler, the best and most famous street for food shops in Paris, is only six blocks away from our apartment in Paris (Open every day including Sunday morning, but many shops are closed on Mondays). Here you can ask our favorite cheese merchant what cheese you want and what day you wish to consume it and they’ll hand pick the perfect selection!
- Open Food Markets: The 7th arrondissement has more open food markets than any other quartier in Paris, and merchants come from all over France with their best wines, fruits, vegetables, flowers, fish, Brittany lobster, pâtés, breads - even five types of escargots!
- 20 minutes to the Bon Marché department store.
- 30 minutes to the department stores on Blvd. Haussman.
- 25 minutes to the Place de la Concorde, La Madeleine.
- 20 minutes to the Champs Elysées and new Louis Vuitton flagship store.
- Our apartment in Paris is only 15 minutes from the Four Seasons George V or Plaza Athenee’ Hotel where the final episode of ‘Sex and the City’ was filmed. Enjoy afternoon tea or 3-star dining after a day of sightseeing and further appreciate staying in Tokay with its unforgettable views even more when you see the prices of their rooms!
- The Grand Couturiers on Ave. Montaigne are only 15 minutes away; shop to your heart’s content at Dior, Chanel, Hermes, Givenchy, Valentino, Bonpoint, Ungaro, Ynes de la Fressange, Loewe, Bulgari, Ferragamo, Max Mara, Scherrer, Jimmy Choo, the outrageous Jean-Paul Gaultier and many, many more (Please see our link on Paris Shopping for more details).
