Description of our Bergerac Paris apartment rental

When we saw our Bergerac Paris apartment, a single phrase sprang to mind: ‘A million dollar view!’ This beautiful, romantic apartment in Paris is 920 square feet and has an unforgettable Eiffel view from three sets of French doors—simply spectacular. There are three small balconies you can step out on to savor the view: Eiffel Tower and Paris itself, the river and the Trocadéro to your right, and the Tour de Montparnasse far to your left. We have completely remodeled this three bedroom/two-and-½ bath apartment rental that is fully air conditioned and are excited for you to view it and rent it for your Paris vacation!

Enter our Paris apartment rental to a long corridor leading to every room. All the vacation apartment rooms can be closed off from each other, an important small feature. The original floors were laid down in the 1800’s and have been fully restored to their original warmth. We found a pair beautiful antique marble sculptures of a goddess’ face which act as supports for the glass console table.

Turn left into the large living room of our Paris apartment rental, with dining room, and kitchen on the left. Our rental guests love this room; we put all of our remodeling and decorating efforts into designing and decorating these rooms and they have turned out beautifully. Frankly, it wasn’t difficult given the view and sunlight which streams into this elegant Paris apartment for rent. We think our guests will love it!

You are immediately struck by the view of La Grande Dame de Paris: the Eiffel Tower, from the two sets of French doors in front of you. It is eternal and wonderful, especially at night when the magic light show begins after dark. For 10 minutes on the hour 20,000 lights twinkle in an incredible magic show. You have a front seat view from the living room, dining room, and master bedroom; and, you can even hear the applause from the visitors on the Tower!

At Christmas in 2004 the first level, 190 feet above the ground, was converted into an ice skating rink. From this apartment for rent, you could even see the onlookers on this level from your apartment French doors.

The living room sofa and chairs cluster around the original marble fireplace. Tones of beige and turquoise mixed with copper highlight the sofa, cushions, and curtains to create an elegant and restful room in this Paris apartment rental. Several antique oil paintings contrast with the contemporary furniture.

We imported the sofa for this vacation apartment in Paris from Italy, where we have found the best designs and comfort. It converts into a comfortable double bed without having to remove the cushions! Our guests tell us they argue over who can sleep on it, so they don’t miss the view at night. Don’t worry; metal shutters on the balcony can be closed to block out the light – but most guests tell us they prefer to leave them open. After all, a trip to Paris is a memory of a lifetime and this unforgettable view is one good reason why.

The vacation apartment dresser is painted with mythical chimeras in tones of gold and blue and provides extra storage for you. The old mirror with bow fits the space above the dresser perfectly.

In the apartment rental living room, we have installed a flat screen TV, dual standard DVD (so you can bring your favorite movies with you), stereo (bring your favorite CD’s) and satellite reception for English news channels: CNN, BBC, and Sky. There is free access to a wireless adsl line for your computer, with secure password.

The living room faces due west and is very sunny in the afternoons and evening. There is nothing better than coming home from a long day of sightseeing and shopping to a sunny, warm and comfortable room where our rental guests can relax with a glass of wine and good conversation.

On the left of the sofa, next to the vacation apartment’s French doors, there are built-in bookshelves and a small desk, so our rental guests can work or answer emails while gazing at the view. We provide a free, wireless ADSL for you.

To the left of the living room find the built-in kitchen and dining area. Our carpenters built the maple kitchen to measure in Normandy and then transported it to Paris for assembly and final fittings. It was hard work, but the attention to detail is excellent – including their careful matching of the natural wood grain. The kitchen has large refrigerator/freezer, convection oven, combination microwave/oven, four-burner cook top, dishwasher, electric espresso/cappuccino maker and every utensil you might need to cook a gourmet meal. One joy of renting a Paris vacation apartment in our arrondissement is to be able to shop at the three large open markets within walking distance and return home with wonderful foods to heat up or actually prepare.

There is a bar in pink granite with stools for grabbing quick meals or enjoying the company of special friends and family while cooking. You can see the Eiffel Tower from the vacation apartment kitchen, a real treat.

The dining table is of thick, tempered-glass resting on a large wooden column, hand sculpted and imported from Italy. We think it is among the most romantic private tables in the world, as you can watch the Tower while dining. It comfortably seats 8. Guests tell us that even friends who have lived in Paris for years are enthralled with the view, especially when the magic light show begins.

Return to the vacation apartment corridor to find the master bedroom further down on your left. This beautiful room offers a most special and romantic view you could wish for, as you can toast your stay in Paris with champagne while enjoying the Eiffel Tower's light show from the bed. As with this one, we import most of our beds from Italy as our guests say they are the most comfortable they have ever slept on. The bed is a dual-king which can also be made up as singles. We warn you that it is hard to get up in the mornings!

The apartment for rent has an antique chest of drawers and four large cupboards: there is plenty of storage. We have installed a flat screen TV for you to enjoy TV in the bedroom as well. Having a good night’s sleep is important to us, so we insist on installing luxury hotel double-glazed windows and French doors in all of our apartments. Therefore, all the rooms are very quiet for a good night’s sleep.

At the corridor end, find the master bathroom, tiled in beige Botticcino marble with a Roman frieze around the walls. The bathtub has a fixed showerhead (no French telephone showers which spout everywhere when you turn them on) so you can grab a shower or soak in a warm bath after a long day of walking. We found a stone dolphin to serve as a fun spout for the bathtub and children love it. Two antique marble sinks sit on a limestone countertop with a glass shelf underneath and mirrored cabinets for plenty of storage.

The washer and dryer are in the closet behind you, top-of-the-line by Miele.

On the far right is the second bedroom, with queen-size bed and a wall of cupboards. You can step out on a small balcony to enjoy the view upon the rooftops. We found an old weather vane rooster at the flea market (the symbol of France) and some wonderful pictures of French shoes and handbags for this room, giving it a sunny French feel.

You may notice that we install reading lights and good lights in all of our Paris apartment rooms. That’s why the pictures that we take after dark still show very light rooms.

Bedroom three is the second door on your right, a small but cozy room which sleeps one. This was the original kitchen when the building was built in the 1800’s and the large window was originally a small window with small closet or ‘grenier’ underneath it, which stuck out from the building. This grenier kept foods cool in the days before refrigerators. We were given permission to transform the windows into a small balcony so you can step out and enjoy sunrise from the East and pretty views over the rooftops.

The third bedroom leads to the second bathroom, tiled in beige rectangular tiles with a gray slate floors. This bathroom has a full-sized, built-in glass shower, toilet, and sink.

The first toilet is on your right as you enter the apartment and has a small sink for extra ‘getting ready’ room. We love the look of the beige marble and borders and can’t resist even though we have used it in other bathrooms.

  • The vacation apartment location is among the best in Paris: 3-minute walk to the river; 15 minutes to the Invalides; 10 minutes to the Trocadéro; the Grand Palais and the couturier's on Ave. Montaigne, the Four Seasons George V for tea or 3-star dining; the Champs Elysées are a 15-minute walk ; Place de la Concorde and the Bon Marché department store are a 20-minute walk .

Nearby skating and bike rental are fun activities in the park, especially after strenuous site seeing. The apartment is next to the American Library, an institution in Paris, and across from an old elementary school built at the turn-of-the-century.
  • In January 2005, the Tower converted the first floor into an ice skating rink 189 feet high above the rooftops of Paris; we hope it will continue every year.

  • Open Markets: Rue Cler is five blocks away, among the best and most famous streets for food in Paris. Pont de l'Alma is a five-minutes walk and has the largest open market in Paris every Saturday morning.
