Where to Say “I Love You” in Paris

Thursday, February 2nd, 2012

I Love You in Paris

Our Paris Perfect team was recently asked by a guest where to propose to his girlfriend in Paris when he comes next spring. He is staying at the lovely and romantic Calvados apartment, where the balcony has been the ideal location for a number of engagements in its history!  You can even find candle wax on the paving where numerous suitors have lit dozens of candles in preparation for the special moment.

Our team had a wonderful time gathering some of our favorite romantic spots. Paris is a city of romance everywhere you turn, but here are some perfect places for saying “I love you,” surprising your loved one with a renewal of the vows or popping the big question in Paris!

The Eiffel Tower

Tom Cruise proposed to Katie on the Eiffel Tower

Tom Cruise proposed to Katie on the Eiffel Tower

Towering above the rooftops of Paris, lit with a golden glow at night or sparkling during the magical light show each evening, the Eiffel Tower is the classic spot in Paris to say “I love you.” Its romantic allure also makes it one of the most popular and irresistible spots to pop the question to your partner. Even Tom Cruise asked Katie Holmes to marry him on the second floor of the Eiffel Tower, and the whole world knows how that turned out! Another favorite is to make reservations at the Jules Verne restaurant on top level of the Eiffel Tower for a romantic and memorable proposal.

The Most Magical in Paris - Eiffel Tower Proposal

The Pont Alexandre III

One of our team’s favorite romantic spots in Paris is the beautiful Pont Alexandre III bridge that crosses the Seine between the Invalides and the Grand Palais. At sunrise or sunset, the golden statues and beautiful lamps create an unforgettably romantic setting overlooking the Seine River. Surprise your loved one with a moment of romance on one of Paris’ most lavish and beautiful bridges!

Romantic spots to propose in Paris

Say "I Love You" on the stunning Pont Alexandre III at sunset

Paris Memories of a Lifetime

Promenade Plantées

The Promenade Plantées is very romantic and off the beaten path spot to pop the question. Once a railway line that has been cleverly replanted with charming gardens, it’s a lovely spot for a Sunday morning stroll. Stop by Le Reservoir for a Sunday jazz brunch, listen to fantastic music and then enjoy a stroll along the promenade.

Chateau de Versailles

Wedding at the Palace of Versailles

The palace and gardens of Versailles are a dreamy setting for your romantic moment or special proposal in Paris. Why not rent bikes and ride to the opposite end of the Grand Canal and propose with the chateau as your backdrop? Don’t forget the bottle of wine or champagne and picnic!

The Pont des Arts

Strolling along the Seine River and crossing one of its many bridges is a favorite leisurely pastime for romantics. Another perfect spot for saying “I love you” or asking that magical question is on the pretty Pont des Arts bridge. This pedestrian only bridge is a very romantic spot located near the Louvre and overlooking the Ile de la Cité.

The Pont des Arts - an ideal location in Paris to say I Love You

A romantic favorite - the Pont des Arts bridge looking toward the Il de la Cité

The Key to My Heart - Bring a Lock to the Pont des Arts

Parc Monceau

If you’re in search of a peaceful garden setting for your romantic moment in Paris, visit the stunning English-style gardens at Parc Monceau. Propose to your loved one while strolling through the landscaped gardens and over the picturesque bridges. You’ll find Parc Monceau northeast of the Arc de Triomphe in the 8th arrondissement.

Carrousel du Louvre

Pyramid du Louvre Romantic Evening

With the Louvre as a backdrop, the Carrousel du Louvre is an impressive setting to wow your loved one with a romantic surprise. Sunset is the perfect time, and the setting is made complete by one of the many musicians you’ll often hear playing in the arcades.

Bois de Boulogne

In Love in Paris

Another romantic favorite is to rent a little paddle boat in the Bois de Boulogne gardens and propose floating on the small Lac Inférieur. Pack a picnic and enjoy a relaxing stroll through the gardens with your loved one for an unforgettable day in Paris.

Palais de Chaillot

Proposing in Paris the Palais de Chaillot

Across the Seine River from the Eiffel Tower you’ll find the Trocadéro and beautiful Palais de Chaillot that houses the Musée de l’Architecture. On the top floor of this fascinating museum, head to center window that looks straight out to a perfectly framed view of the Eiffel Tower. What a romantic spot to propose or say “I love you!” You’ll also enjoy strolling through the lovely first floor and across the Seine to the Eiffel Tower.

Most Romantic Paris Perfect Apartments

Of course, one of our guests’ favorite spots for proposing, renewing vows and treasuring romantic moments together is on the balcony of one of our Paris Perfect apartments. Many feature those absolutely stunning Paris views that make a magical setting for romance.

Why is the Chateau Latour apartment in Paris better than the Shangri La?

Sunday, November 20th, 2011

A guest from Australia paid us the ultimate compliment by comparing their vacation in the 2 bedroom Chateau Latour Paris apartment rental — with unforgettable Eiffel views and terrace — to the luxurious new Shangri La Hotel.

Quote…”We’ve heard a lot about this luxury 5 star hotel in Paris and visited it to learn more. Here are some basic comparisons”:

The Shangri La Paris is the Hong Kong-based group’s first hotel in Europe and took four years to painstakingly restore. Built by Prince Roland Bonaparte, it has been transformed from a mini-Chateau to a hotel with 54 rooms and 27 suites.  Their Panoramic Suite with Eiffel Tower views costs a mind-blowing €15,000 per night!

The Shangri La’s Panoramic Suite costs €15,000 per night!

The views from the river-facing rooms are fabulous, but we couldn’t help but compare with the views offered by Chateau Latour and some of the other apartments Paris Perfect offers.

Not only does Chateau Latour accommodate up to six people, you have the advantage of living like a Parisian. With an incredible view, you can relax in the living room or fix a meal for family and friends while watching the magic light show in the distance.

The incredible view of the Eiffel Tower from your private terrace

The elegant living room opens to a fabulous south facing balcony

Provencal-style master bedroom with en suite bathroom

Relax in the comfortable living room; dine in for the evening to a spectacular view

The Layon luxury rental in Paris offers a closeup view and small balcony from just €285 Per night.

The romantic Champagne apartment with wrap around balcony is priced from €325 and sleeps up to four in comfort.

The terrace of the Cognac apartment is one of the most spectacular views in Paris and sleeps up to 8 from just €515 per night.  Compare them to the Shangri La’s Panoramic Suite at a whopping €15,000 per night!

Our First Review for Our New Monet & Renoir Apartments!

Saturday, October 1st, 2011

We recently added two beautiful properties, Monet and Renoir, to our Paris Perfect portfolio and are so excited to share the very first guest review!

Thanks to the Paris Perfect Team, our “girls” getaway to Paris was fantastic! We stayed in the Monet and Renoir apartments. First, let me say the view from these apartments is THE most SPECTACULAR in Paris! Views from both the Living Room and Dining Room (on the first floor) include the Eiffel Tower (you are close enough to actually see the people walking up the steps to the Eiffel Tower). To the left is the Trocadéro. Straight ahead is the Sacre Coeur (exceptionally beautiful around 5 PM when the sun hits it and it actually illuminates). To the right is Les Invalides.

These apartments were exceptionally large, clean and comfortable. The bedrooms cozy with the best linens, matresses and pillows for a great sleep after a busy day. The bathrooms are roomy with great bathtubs to soak and relax. The kitchen well equipted with washer, dryer, dishwasher, oven, stovetop, microwave and full refrigerator. The utinsils and cooking equipment worked out well for us to prepare some meals in. Breakfast was easy with eggs and fresh croisants from the local bakery. The apartment also has a great Nespresso machine that was used often (and convenient to get refills from the Paris Perfect office). Afternoons we would stop by the markets to pick up fresh baguettes, dessert, wine, pate, cheese and have a great spread to enjoy as everyone shared their adventures of the day.

We’ve stayed with Paris Perfect several times before, and this last visit reminded us why we would not even consider staying in a hotel or make arrangements with any other company offering apartments. This Team is the BEST! Professional. Accomodating. Accessable.

On our last evening we were planning on going to bed early because of our 6 AM flights…..but ended staying up until 3 AM so we could watch the 1 AM final show on the eiffel tower and visit a little longer. We are already planning our next visit…..and will without a doubt be working with Paris Perfect again.

Cindy O, Edwardsburg, USA

Thank You Cindy, we always love receiving feedback from our guests and are delighted to hear that you had a wonderful stay in our Monet and Renoir apartments.  We still can’t believe how lucky we were to find apartments with such spectacular Eiffel views and hope you managed to get loads of great photos during your stay.  Looking forward to welcoming you back to a Paris Perfect apartment in the near future.

Romantic and Fabulous New Apartment: the Calvados Luxury Rental!

Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010

12-old-photographs-of-paris

We helped owners remodel and complete the beautiful Calvados apartment rental in Paris and we are as delighted as they are! Like the after dinner liqueur from Normandy, this apartment is meant to be savored. With a beautiful balcony and straight on view of the Eiffel Tower, it’s one of the most romantic apartments we’ve seen.

The apartment was owned by a widower for decades. When he passed away, his heirs put it up for sale. We worked with the buyers to re-design the apartment, adding a second bathroom and re-configuring the kitchen and bedroom. Thought you’d enjoy photos, before and after.

hallway-before-remodeling

Before: Hallway of the Calvados when purchased.

The corridor reflected the 70′s; better lighting and removing the bookshelves opened up this long hallway. The WC or toilet was the first doorway on the right and the kitchen opened directly into the hallway next.

After: Hallway of the Calvados Apartment after remodel

We re-configured the bedroom to create the main bathroom with hallway entrance. This makes it convenient for a group of four. On the right, we created a short corridor and moved the opening to the wc, with kitchen just beyond

We carefully plan the plumbing and wiring before work begins because it’s complicated! All wiring must be run through tubes – see the blue plastic ones in this picture — to isolate the wire and prevent shorts or fires.

To use a French expression, we “grignote’d” or ate away from the kitchen and the original bedroom cupboards to create a second bathroom complete with shower and sink.

sm-before-toilet

Before: WC

A common solution in Paris apartments is to suspend the hot water heater above the toilet. I’ve never heard of one falling down, but they always make me uncomfortable. Also they are small due to size restrictions in small toilets. We bought the largest available and set it up right behind the kitchen wall.

After: We moved the doorway of the WC to the side and created a larger room.

Presenting a New Paris Apartment, the Quincy!

Wednesday, June 30th, 2010
Incredible view of the Eiffel Tower from the bedroom

Incredible view of the Eiffel Tower from the bedroom

We helped American owners from Virginia remodel and finish a beautiful one/two bedroom Paris apartment next to Ecole Militaire in the 7th. They chose the name Quincy, named after the Sauvignon Blanc from the Loire Valley.  The wine is softer than others from this region, capturing the essence of the Loire without a high price tag. Like the wine Quincy offers excellent value in a superb location.

What we love about the apartment is that it’s next to the Champs de Mars Gardens, on the border of the very-French 15th arrondissement and the old Parisian 7th arrondissement. It represents true French living, with nearby access to the famous rue de Commerce and the wonderful Grenelle open air market. You won’t see as many tourists, but you’re right in the heart of everything with easy access to monuments, great restaurants and … shopping! From the fashion boutiques on the rue de Commerce, to the French ‘Target’ or Monoprix at the Motte Piquet metro, to the well-known Village Suisse, home to an abundance of antique stores. Transport is ideal with the metro only 3 minute’s walk as well as numerous buses that wend their way throughout Paris .

The Quincy apartment in Paris is located in a pretty building on a quiet street off Blvd de Grenelle.  Located on the 6th floor with elevator, it combines traditional French architecture, from the original fireplaces to oak parquet floors — with modern conveniences.  Loads of sunlight and views of the Eiffel Tower from the kitchen and master bedroom make it a wonderful home for your next sojourn in Paris .

The owners loved the double living room created for our Saint Julien apartment in Paris, where tall sliding doors create a sunny double room during the day, but can be closed to create a second bedroom at night.  Our architect created the same look in the Quincy apartment, making two separate areas.

The front half of the living room is charming with long sofa and facing armchair that surround the fireplace. The colors they chose are warm reds and golds. On the right of this room is a modern wenge wood and glass dining table that expands to seat six. Not shown is the flat screen TV, dual standard DVD player and free high-speed internet.

The second half is a comfortable study with a clic-clac sofa bed that easily slides open to make a queen-sized bed. With separate entryway, you can slide the paneled doors closed and have two separate rooms at night. As with most of the apartments we manage, we import the sofas from Italy who we believe offer the highest quality materials and mattresses available.

The master bedroom is one of our favorite rooms, decorated in pale blue green with ivory wood headboard. There are lovely antique features such as the small paintings and lights above to the fireplace. Another flat screen TV with DVD player means children can watch a movie in the bedroom while parents relax in the living room. The owners found the lights nearby and they are a beautiful addition in the form of elegant brass swans. And of course, the incredibly romantic of the Eiffel Tower at night is a bonus in itself.

The kitchen is nicely remodeled with all conveniences in a combination of white lacquer and pale wood. But you’re immediately drawn to the large window, where you’ll find the most charming view of the Eiffel Tower through the paned glass windows. With all modern appliances you can shop at the large Grenelle open air market or exellent local merchants nearby and dine at home with family and friends.

Innies vs Outies: Paris Apartments Outside vs Courtyard Views

Thursday, October 8th, 2009

We’re redecorating the living room and master bedroom of our Merlot apartment and I had the treat to stay there. Stay tuned for our new pictures soon!
I sat the dining table and was concentrating on the computer work; you know how it happens.  I looked up to see the most beautiful sunset arrayed beyond the balcony in front of me! I couldn’t believe it; kept getting up to watch the sky get more and more pink.  It got better and better, the sky turning from blue to rose to deep pink and finally blue! And finally the velvet blues of nightfall.

Later that evening, I looked out the second bedroom window.  And here was the courtyard view at the same time of night.  I contrasted it with the amazing spectacle I enjoyed earlier.  There was simply no comparison.

To me, Paris is a gift and should be savored every moment of the day.   Even your down time should be spent where you can relax or even work in a beautiful space, sip a glass of wine and enjoy a spectacle like the one above.  We hope you have the chance to watch the perfect sunset in Paris every night you are there.  We promise you will never forget it.

The Bridges of Paris; Spectacular Sunrise Views!

Magnificent sunrise over the Seine in Paris

Magnificent sunrise over the Seine in Paris

Woke up early on Monday at our Merlot apartment near the river in Paris.  I grabbed my camera and tore out of the apartment for a short run along the Seine.  What a gift, watching the sun rise over Paris!  I gazed in awe from the Pont Alexandre III near the Invalides. The sky turned pink and yellow while the sun slowly rose above the beautiful river, touching the water and the monuments as it rose.

I thought how lucky I was to have this morning: to be in Paris, stay in an apartment near the Seine, to walk to the river a few blcoks away:  the light, the beauty and magic…for these special moments. C’etait magnifique!

Vowed to learn more about the bridge and the bronze statues which range from powerful god-figures to an absolutely charming nymph straddling a wriggling fish. I’m no great runner and it didn’t matter at all when I started to walk. I headed towards the Louvre and slowly wended my way home:  fifteen minutes from the Musee’ d’ Orsay to my door. I loved every moment!

Taking it all in, I was reminded of a book I read by Harlan Coben where the protagonist finds himself in Paris.  It’s a good mystery from an excellent writer.

Harlan Coben from Long Lost:

But more than that, Paris makes you feel alive.
Makes makes you want to feel alive.
You want to do and be and savor when you are here
You want to feel, simply feel, and it doesn’t matter what.
All sensation is heightened
Paris makes you want to cry and laugh and fall in love and write a p
oem and make love and compose a symphony.

Merci M. Coben, on ne peut pas mieux le dire.

Every neighborhood of Paris has its special parts, but remember this sunrise. However much I enjoy more distant neighborhoods, from the outer Marais to Montmartre, I’ll always want to live near the Seine.
