Description of Kir Paris apartment rental

We call our studio Paris apartment “le petit bijoux", or little jewel, because it's small and stunning. Furnished with fine antiques, this beautiful Paris apartment features loads of sunlight and open views over the Champ de Mars Park. We named this charming Paris apartment rental Kir, after the petite cocktail of Champagne and Crème de Cassis taken as an apéritif before meals. Measuring 160 square feet, this totally renovated Paris apartment with a modern bathroom and kitchen may not be expansive, but it certainly sets the mood for your exploration of Paris. Gaze to the far right out of the large vacation apartment windows and see the Eiffel Tower only one block away. Located on a quiet Parisian street, Kir is surrounded by cafés, shops, restaurants, and open markets. The price of our beautiful Paris apartment is very reasonable, less than most postage-stamp hotel rooms, with the advantages of a kitchen, comfortable living room, and dining area. For warm days, we have installed air conditioning.

The story behind the purchase of our Kir Paris apartment rental is unusual. We found it via word of mouth because we owned another vacation apartment rental inside the same building. The apartment rental was actually a combination of two even smaller vacation apartments, owned by two different owners. Neither could separate their half from the other without making the space un-useable. After much negotiation by Philippe between the two owners -- a French Magistrate and a Dentist – we managed to buy their halves. Finding great Paris apartments is always a challenge, but it is so worth it when you have found beautiful views, sunlight and features, even from a studio. We gutted and completely remodeled this vacation apartment with the best materials to create an elegant and comfortable Paris apartment rental with excellent living space, using the view and light to the best advantage.

Into our Paris apartment rental, the Kir Studio: Take the elevator, sixth floor, and walk through the front door into the vacation apartment. The small kitchen is on your left with granite worktops, cherry wood doors, and all modern appliances: two-burner ceramic cook top, microwave/convection oven combination, under-the-counter refrigerator, toaster, coffee maker, etc. A skylight provides warm light onto the counters, supplemented by halogen spotlights. Cooking is an enormous bonus when you stay in a Paris apartment and Kir is no exception. The kitchen is perfect for one or two, and three famous Parisian open markets are all nearby and make buying ingredients for meals a highlight of living in this arrondissement.

Walk into the main room of our apartment rental to a stunning view of Paris through the two large windows over the Champ de Mars Park and 7th arrondissement elegant buildings. The apartment buildings on this street are among the most sought-after in Paris; decorating magazines frequently feature those nearby which belong to designers, movie stars, royalty, and company presidents.

It’s fun to watch Paris life unfold below: parents taking children to school, people buying their morning and evening baguettes, coming back from a nearby market with their shopping baskets full, or joining friends for an espresso at the café on the corner. A great view is an important part of your enjoyment of Paris, whether you are visiting for the first or fiftieth time - and it is extremely difficult to find these apartments. We say they must have the ‘Wow!’ factor when you walk in. As a result, our selection is small, but we are uncompromising in our standards.

Directly in front of you, in between the windows, you will find a beautiful antique white and gold mirror dating from the early 1800's and an antique mahogany dresser which we found in Normandy. Oak parquet floors of our vacation apartment are covered with an Oriental rug; the walls are painted in creamy yellow with yellow silk curtains to match.

On the left, find a new empire-style sofa bed in antique white. Cushions in pale green, with green plaid throw cushions to contrast with the sunny yellows. The sofa is large and comfortable for sitting in during the day, converting to separate twins or dual-king bed at night. Our guests appreciate the comfort and size of these sofas versus traditional sofa beds. An antique Chinese trunk serves as a coffee table.

On the right, see a cherry wood table from Italy which seats up to four for inviting guests to dinner. It folds against the wall to become a desk and to create more space when not in use. We have wireless ADSL so all you need is a password to be online for free. TV and a dual-standard DVD player, which allows you to bring American movies or rent French ones nearby. CNN and other English-speaking news channels are available, as is a stereo system (bring your favorite CDs as well).

Four large closets beyond the table provide ample storage for your stay. You will find a security safe to lock away your valuables. Our architect has cleverly used the empty space above the kitchen and bathroom of our vacation apartment to create a storage loft which is open and accessible from the living room, perfect for storing suitcases and boxes.
