My wife, my 3 children, ages 13, 15, and 17, and I spent the first week in July in the Romanee apartment. It was everything the website promised, except for one – it was even closer to the Eiffel Tower than the map or the pictures indicate! It was wonderful.

Description of our Paris apartment that we call Romanée

We walked into our Romanée Paris apartment and were bowled over by the view from the large windows in the living room and dining area! Six months of remodeling brought it up to our high standards. Our Romanée apartment in the center of Paris is ideal for a family or a group of adults who want to enjoy a fantastic Paris vacation in a Paris apartment rental. It offers two bedrooms and 2-½ baths, air conditioning and sleeps up to six. We named it Romanée after some of the richest and most famous wines in France that hail from Burgundy.

This apartment is very Parisian – it is decorated in a style that combines contemporary with antiques and has turned out beautifully! Pale closets and beige sofa combine with soft touches and features. Our Paris apartment measures 750 square feet, is located on the 6th floor (with elevator), and faces west, which means it is above the treetops, very light, and sunny. The view of the Eiffel Tower is directly ahead from the living room windows but this Paris apartment is located on a beautiful cobbled courtyard. Romanée offers a warm and romantic stay for you in Paris.

Enter our elegant Paris apartment to a short, wide corridor that leads to the large open-plan living room. Gaze out the large windows at the Eiffel Tower and you know you’ve arrived in Paris. A built-in desk and closets of pale sycamore are on your right as you enter, good for storage and work space.

A contemporary lilac sofa divides the room, with view of the Eiffel Tower from the windows on your left. Touches of hot pink add a bit of color. The herringbone parquet floors are original and restored to their original beauty, as is the marble fireplace which faces the sofa. The room is beautiful. Best of all, you know you have arrived in Paris as you gaze out the large apartment windows to a breathtaking view of the Eiffel Tower. It’s wonderful to stay here; enjoying each other’s company in the luxury of a beautiful apartment, or simply enjoying a good book and nap on the sofa.

There is plenty of comfortable seating, as a second sofa is located on the right-hand wall, upholstered in cream-colored cotton. It has a straight-on view of the Eiffel Tower. We located the manufacturer of this amazing sofa in Italy. It’s a divan during the day and—voila!—it pulls down to a fully made-up double bed at night; excellent engineering for an extremely comfortable night’s sleep. The view from this bed is simply unforgettable and guests will have a tough time deciding who gets to sleep there. You see the Eiffel Tower in front of you in all its glory, including the magic light show which comes on every hour after dark. Don’t worry about getting to sleep as all of our windows have blackout blinds and curtains – but most of our guests prefer to leave them open so they can enjoy this unforgettable view.

Next to the fireplace is an antique chest of drawers with TV, DVD player and sound system. The DVD and CD player are compatible with American movies, so you can bring some of your favorites with you. The satellite connection means you can watch CNN, BBC, and Sky news, and sample all of the French channels as well. There is free access to a wireless adsl line for your computer, with secure password.

The sunny living room of the apartment is open to the dining area and kitchen. Eating at the table is undoubtedly one of the most romantic in Paris; it sits in front of the second large window with full view of, La Grande Dame de Paris, the Eiffel Tower. While we love eating in bistros and restaurants in Paris (we provide you with five full pages of recommendations), it’s a thrill to eat breakfast or even a gourmet feast in front of this view.

We know a young English house painter who has an amazing talent for graphic design. We sent him to Paris and asked him to use his own ideas to paint a mural on the wall behind the dining table. He wandered around the neighborhood for hours and designed a beautiful mural on the back wall, representing many of the buildings you will see. The mural actually covers six closet doors, where you can unpack and feel at home.

The kitchen of the vacation rental was designed in sycamore and was made for us in Normandy. The craftsmanship is superb. Our kitchen is equipped with every appliance and accessory you might need to whip up a gourmet meal: large refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, washer/dryer, coffee pot, espresso maker, toaster, microwave, and convection oven.

Follow the corridor to the back of the apartment: the first bathroom is on your left and tiled in beautiful Botticino marble. There is a bathtub with shower; a lion’s head is the spout, creating a touch of drama and fun. An old marble sink from Italy sits on the limestone worktop and an 80-gallon hot water heater is the largest available in France, meaning plenty of hot water.

The guest bedroom of the apartment rental is next on your right with a dormer window that looks out over the rooftops. There is a high-quality double bed to provide a good night’s sleep. The location at the back of the building means it is very quiet, even without the double glazing we have put in the windows.

The first toilet is next on your right, tiled in beige, terra cotta, and cream tumbled marble.

The second bathroom of the apartment follows with second toilet, shower, and sink. It is tiled in white with a Provençal floral pattern running along the top.

The master bedroom of the vacation rental is at the end of the hallway and has a large window overlooking the back courtyard. It’s very quiet, even without the double glazed windows we have put in. There are beautiful silk taffeta curtains in beiges and a dual-king bed. The bed can be made up as a king-sized bed or as two twins. There are closets on the far wall for good storage along with TV and satellite to receive English-speaking news channels.

An important note: all of the windows are state-of-the-art double glazed, the same as used in luxury hotels. The apartment is located in the middle of this bustling city, but is extremely quiet for a good night’s sleep.

Important Features and the Neighborhood:

  • Breathtaking view of the Eiffel Tower – You invest a lot to come to Paris and you should be rewarded with an unforgettable view of this eternal city.
  • The location is one of the best in Paris: 3-minute walk to the river; 15 minutes to the Invalides; 10 minutes to the Trocadéro; the Grand Palais and the couturier's on Ave. Montaigne, the Four Seasons George V for tea or 3-star dining; 15-minute walk to the Champs Elysées; 20-minute walk to Place de la Concorde and the Bon Marché department store.
  • You are surrounded by restaurants that local Parisians go to, cafés, bistros and shops.
  • You are six blocks to the golden dome of the Invalides, where Napoleon is buried, along with surrounding park.
  • You are seven blocks to the incredible Rodin Museum.
  • One block to the Eiffel Tower and Champ de Mars. The Champ de Mars Park is a rare bonus in Paris as there are few large parks in the center of the city. Walk, run, play in 1 of 3 playgrounds, basketball court, go to the puppet theater or just sit and enjoy. Nearby skating and bike rental are fun activities in the park, especially after strenuous site seeing. The apartment is next to the American Library, an institution in Paris, and across from an old elementary school built at the turn-of-the-century.
  • In January 2005, the Eiffel Tower converted the first floor into an ice skating rink 189 feet high above the rooftops of Paris; we hope it will continue every year.
  • The Seine River is three blocks away and right near where the famous Bateau Mouche boat tours begin.
  • Open Markets: Rue Cler is five blocks away, one of the best and most famous streets for food in Paris. Pont de l'Alma is a five-minutes walk and has the largest open market in Paris every Saturday morning. Merchants come from the country with wines, fruits, vegetables, flowers, fish, pâtés, breads, even five types of escargots!

We leave several Paris guidebooks and other information on the neighborhood for you to peruse during your stay.

This is a non-smoking apartment and, sorry, but no pets are allowed.

We think you will love staying in our Paris apartment!

Please let me know if you have any other questions or would like to check availability; we are happy to help.
