Christmas at our Favorite Paris Pâtisseries

Christmas Decorations at Laduree in Paris

Picture perfect Parisian corner in the 6th arrondissement

Just the other day I was strolling down rue Bonaparte in the 6th arrondissement, a charming street that runs from the Luxembourg Gardens past Place Saint Sulpice to Place Saint-Germain-des-Prés and through a lovely residential and shopping neighborhood to the Seine. Here you’ll find shops for two of the most famous pâtisseries in Paris … and two of our favorites, too!

Just at the corner of rue Bonaparte and rue Jacob not far from the beautiful church of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, you’ll find a lovely Ladurée shop. Often not as packed as the flaghip Ladurée shop on the Champs-Elysées, this is one of our neighborhood favorites to share with guests staying in the 6th arrondissement.

Christmas Windows at Ladurée in Paris

Tempting and festive window displays at Ladurée

The holiday windows were colorful, festive and, above all, elegant – very much Ladurée! I loved the gold macarons that had been turned into Christmas trees mixed in with their tea tins and other products. What a lovely spot to stop for tea, oh so delicious pastries and their famous macarons while strolling through Saint-Germain!

Follow rue Bonaparte south of Boulevard Saint-Germain toward Place Saint Sulpice and you’ll find a small Pierre Hermé boutique. Here the Christmas windows with their brilliant red background stopped me in my tracks!

Christmas Windows at Pierre Herme in Paris

Christmas has arrived at Pierre Hermé!

With the classic Pierre Hermé simplicity and elegance, the windows this year had white cut outs and featured the macarons and traditional bûche de Noël – elaborate desserts shaped like yule logs.

Surrounded by Pierre Hermé macarons … I would be leaping, too.

The holidays are such a festive time of year to stroll through the streets of Paris. And with tempting windows like these … there are plenty of spots to warm up with something sweet!
