Within walking distance of multiple markets of Paris, one for every day of the week, the Chinon apartment is the perfect springboard for your culinary explorations. Centered between the highlights of the 6th and 7th Arrondissements, you’ll not only have lots to see and do, you’ll also get a taste of real Parisian life.
Groups of two to six people can have a fantastic stay at the Chinon. Just like all of our apartments, the kitchen is fully equipped, perfect for anybody who loves to cook. Warm up after a long day exploring with a simple soupe au pistou, or awaken your inner Julia Child and tackle something a little more advanced like Boeuf Bourginonon or Coq au Vin. The world is your oyster! But first – you have to do some shopping.
Just a couple of blocks away is perhaps the most beautiful market in Paris: The Saxe-Breteuil Market. It boasts a picturesque view of the Eiffel Tower and top-quality produce, meats, cheeses, bread and even prepared meals if you’re feeling weary of the kitchen. This market runs every Thursday and Saturday from early in the morning to 2:30 in the afternoon.
On top of that, the Marché Raspail is just a few blocks away, with regular open-air markets on Tuesdays and Fridays, and an all-organic market on Sundays! For the cherry on top of the cake, the famous and historical Grand Épicerie is a 12-minute walk away!
Besides all the amazing food, you’re smack-dab in the center of a former hub of artistic-literary history. Many of the lively cafes along Boulevard Montparnasse still hearken back to that era, most notably La Coupole, with its amazing Art Deco interior design. The only sky-scraper in central Paris, the Tour Montparnasse, may not blend in well with the surrounding Parisian architecture, but the views from the rooftop terrace are unbeatable – and always far less crowded than the Eiffel Tower. Other highlights include great shopping along Rue de Rennes (which terminates at the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Près), the Montparnasse cemetery and a little further, the lovely Jardin du Luxembourg. The Eiffel Tower and other 7th Arrondissement favorites are also within your reach! Most conveniently, the Montparnasse train station nearby makes you extremely well connected to the entirety of Paris, even Versailles.
Okay – enough about the neighborhood! What about the apartment itself? The Chinon is a 2-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom apartment, but can sleep up to 6 people, thanks to the high-quality, queen-sized sofa bed in the living room. It is situated inside of a classical Haussmann style building, but is full of modern amenities and sleek interior design. The Parisian charm is not lost here, despite its more modern furnishings, thanks to a lovely balcony with traditional iron railing – the perfect place for morning coffee or afternoon snack.
Both bedrooms provide tons of built-in storage space, while the master bedroom has a flat screen TV as well as a full en-suite bathroom. The second bathroom is marked by a wall of unique wood paneling, adding an element of chic sophistication to the space. It leads to a gorgeous marble tub where you can soak your tired limbs after a day of sightseeing. For your convenience, there’s also a powder room complete with a toilet and sink, great for slightly larger groups.
