The apartment is located in the Saint-Germain-des-Prés neighborhood in the 6th arrondissement, one of the best neighborhoods for high end shopping and gourmet restaurants. This is where you’ll find Paris’s famous literary cafés, Les Deux Magots and Cafe de Flore, two iconic locales made famous by its intellectual clientele. Simone de Beauvoir, Jean Paul Sartre, Ernest Hemingway and even Pablo Picasso sipped on espressos while brooding over their lives here.
For a whiff of fresh air, you can relax nearby in the Luxembourg Gardens. Or if you prefer to spend all day gazing at amazing works of art, you will adore the proximity to the Musée d’Orsay and the numerous art galleries in the neighborhood. With the Banyuls as your home base, you can be right in the center of it all.
What really sets the Banyuls apart is its proximity to Rue de Buci, a bustling market street lined with cafes, restaurants and small specialty shops that will make the heart of any foodie flutter. The apartment itself is chic, with equal parts luxury and comfort. As you step inside, you are greeted by three large picture windows that shine plenty of natural light into the expansive living area. It’s truly the perfect room for your group to gather around and discuss the day’s adventures, but there are enough little corners to seek your own personal space when you need it. Modern cushy furnishings are balanced with traditional details—see the ornate window railing or the ceiling medallion, for example—to create a clean, cozy feel that captures the charm of the neighborhood.
The desk in the corner serves as the perfect place to sit down and write, look through your photos from the day or simply plan your next adventure. While the majority of the apartment is decorated in soft earth tones, the pops of red bring a zing of vibrancy to energize you for the day ahead.
Although the Banyuls only has one bedroom, it can fit up to four people because tucked behind the cupboard doors are two cozy bunk beds ideal for a family of four or a trip with friends. The two bunk beds come with plenty of storage space to keep all those phrasebooks, metro maps or simply a glass of water within arm’s reach. The best part of having bunk beds tucked into the wall? You can simply shut the cabinet doors during the day to hide away any unmade beds or general untidiness! Plus, this takes up virtually zero floor space (unlike a sofa bed), so you can keep the living area free and clear of obstacles during your entire stay.
Just down the hall is the master bedroom, where you are met by a soft atmosphere of blue and purple hues. This elegant and romantic space creates a zen retreat in which to relax after a long day of sightseeing, with a plush king mattress to melt away the tiredness. The bathroom carries on the elegance with a simple black and white sink that doubles as a vanity with a large mirror and convenient stool.
If eating at the nearby restaurants is not scratching that itch to really get acquainted with the top-notch produce you can find at the market, the kitchen in the Banyuls will make you feel right at home and ready to tackle some of those traditional French meals yourself! The kitchen is fitted with all modern appliances, so all you have to do is add the ingredients. The open floor plan means you get a view of the wooden dining table as well as the living room, so it’s easy to entertain guests while keeping close to those trays of cheese and bottles of wine. Not to be forgotten are the convenient espresso and drip coffee machines to accompany your morning croissants.
