I have always loved Monet probably because I am an avid gardener and I love to paint with watercolor (nothing near as good as him of course). So, when I met my husband in a blind date, I told him about my love for Claude Monet’s work. Being a very thoughtful man, he brought me to view Monet’s painting at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston on our first official date. When he came with me to visit my family in the Philippines on March 2001, I was not aware that he asked my father for my hand in marriage. On August 2001, we went on a Seine river cruise from Normandy to Paris on board m.s. Douce France. On the fifth day of our cruise, August 29, 2001, we arrived at Vernon and from there we proceeded to have an excursion at Giverney’s Claude Monet’s gardens. This is where he unexpectedly proposed to me, in front of our cruise buddies and many tourists. It was so thoughtful of him to do this taking into consideration that I love Monet and everything Frenchie. We are now in our 13th year of marriage with a 10 year old who loves France as well! He even likes escargots! The last time we came for a visit was April 2014, and we attached our own lovelock at Pont des Art! Happily ever after!
