Day Trip to the Loire Valley from Paris
Start your day in Paris by boarding a luxury coach by the Tuileries Gardens, or enjoy a convenient pick up from your vacation rental in a minivan, and head out into the French countryside. The boulevards and avenues soon give way to rolling hills, and as the morning sun climbs higher in the sky you'll descend into the picturesque beauty of the Loire valley. Pass through the ancient wooded hunting ground full of red deer to make your first stop at the magnificent Château de Chambord. Explore the splendor of this castle that owes much of its design to Leonardo da Vinci's inspired vision, and ascend the double helix staircase that is truly an architectural masterpiece. At your next stop discover the feminine beauty of the Château de Chenonceau, a 16th century castle spanning the cerulean waters of the River Cher. Wander the airy halls and rooms and discover this elegant castle where Louise Dupin once hosted a literary salon frequented by some of the greatest minds of the Enlightenment, from Voltaire to Rousseau. As the shadows lengthen over the French countryside, take a final tour of the stately Château de Cheverny and wander in the tranquil English style gardens. During the summer months this part of the tour is replaced with a visit to the Château d'Amboise on the River Loire, where Leonardo da Vinci spent his final years working.
