OUR GUIDE ON WHAT TO DO WITH KIDS IN PARIS
Kids love Paris. Why? Because where else in the world can you eat chocolate crepes for breakfast, explore real life palaces and visit Disneyland?
The truth is that the city most famous for romance is actually a pretty amazing place to take children. Don’t be intimidated by Paris’ crowded streets and busy boulevards. With the right itinerary you can all but guarantee a fun-filled family adventure on your trip to the City of Light!
A ride up to the top of the Eiffel Tower is a must when visiting Paris. Kids and adults alike will love the views. If traveling with very young children, consider taking a Seine River sightseeing cruise to soak in highlights of Paris in a more relaxed setting. Introduce kids to world famous landmarks like Notre-Dame Cathedral and its gargoyles and the Louvre on a family themed tour. Practically all of the city’s major attractions are kid-friendly and many even offer free admission to visitors under 18.
One of the best places to visit for families in Paris is Luxembourg Gardens. Anchored by Luxembourg Palace, the historic gardens have a certain je ne sais quoi that can only be found in the French capital. Tucked away among stately rows of trees and regal statues is a wonderful play area complete with a vintage carousel, ice cream vendors and pony rides.
Of course, Paris’ ultimate playground lies about 20 miles outside the city center and goes by the name of Disneyland Paris. A mere 35 minutes away by train, a visit to the theme park can easily be done as a day trip or multi-day excursion.
The key to conquering Paris with kids is to mix things up. Try not to spend too much time in any one place and break up the day with relaxing lunches and snack time. Finally, don’t be afraid to take little ones to major attractions and landmarks - they’ll enjoy them just as much as you.
