CATHERINE MAX’S AMAZING DISCOUNT STORE IN PARIS!
Catherine Max : 17 Ave. Raymond Poincare’, Paris 75116
We had a super response to our article about the biggest and best designer consigment store in Paris, Reciproque.
Catherine Max is another Paris discount store that you shouldn’t miss.Like Reciproque, this 12,000 square foot store is also located in the chic, Parisien 16th arrondissement, so you can plan your day around shopping. Her amazing store is an outlet for fashion designers, jewelers, perfumers, hi end home acessories to clear their excess inventories.
There is clothing for men, women and children. The store keeps merchandise fresh and they feature a new designer clearance sale every few weeks. Discounts are up to an amazing 80% off! A few weeks ago, they featured Christian Lacroix and John Galliano bathing suit tops and bottoms. And stunning lingerie. Gorgeous designs and colors!
A unique aspect to the store and her website is that follow emerging designers and looks that are just hitting the Paris fashion scene. Find new names and unique designs daily.
The special designer sales are announced via email every few weeks and recently included Ralph Lauren, givenchy and Kenzo. Click here for the link to Catherine Max’s store sales.
The emerging brands are worth a visit to the store or website. Provocative, fresh and exciting!
But the store also features lesser-known designers such as Sprung Freres, Jonak, and La Martina. Her special sale concept began years ago, when Catherine rented storefronts throughout Paris to host her special ‘ventes’ of designer overstocks. As she became well-known, designers themselves approached her to sell more more stock. The “Ventes’ became so popular that she opened ehr own store at 17 Ave Raymond Poincare’ in the 16th arrondissement (just a few blocks from our excellent opthamologist if you need a recommendation.) The store is in a modern building, a few blocks behind the Trocadero.
Guarding the store are not one but two security guards with ear pieces and radios, who check your bags as you go in, but most importantly stay on top of crowd control. The big sales mean huge crowds of Parisians looking for a bargain. They come back regularly because merchandise turns over rapidly. You must be a member to shop here, for a reasonable price of Euros 20/year and you’ll receive the sale announcements by email. Alternatively, sign up at the front desk and start shopping.
The racks are packed with clothing as are the sale tables that line the store from Balenciaga and Bottega Veneta to Paul and Joe, N2, Gat Rimon and Gucci. If you know designer brands you’ll realize the value, although soft leather infant shoes for 40 Euros by jacadi (originally Euros 75) aren’t for the faint hearted.
Over the past year, the company has worked on their online offerings, realizing that not everyone can make it to the store every week.
Click here to view Catherine Max’s online store. It’s a little confusing to navigate but there are two general spaces, the Outlet where final clearance items are posted up to 80% off until they sell out. And the Boutique which showcases emerging brands and designer sale goods at discount prices.

Gorgeous Estime leatherware including travel bags, ipod cases and computer bags offered on line at Catherine Max
You have to live in Paris for their promised 72 hour delivery, but if you have a friend with a local address you’re ready to go.
After you’re done, stroll to the Trocadero and enjoy lunch at the Museum of Mankind, on a rise overlooking the Seine, Ecole Militaire and the Eiffel Tower. It’s a beautiful spot that many don’t know about. Or sit at one of the busy cafe’s with all of the chic Parisians in this in this beautiful neighborhood.
At the entrance, find not one but two security guards with radios who’ll check your bags before entering. The store can become so crowded that you may be asked to wait outside until clients leave. You need to be a member to shop here: fill out a membership card and pay online here or head to the reception area, fill out the form and pay a reasonable € 20/year to receive via email or € 30 if you wish to receive the announcements by the post.
Parisians know to shop often to find because special designer sales are featured on a regular basis. You’ll cruise through the racks carefully because clothing by many designers is packed together.
