On July 14, Paris celebrates Bastille Day, the French national holiday that marks the storming of the Bastille prison in 1789 and the beginning of the French Revolution. With a national spirit similar to the Fourth of July in America or Canada Day, the celebrations for Bastille Day are some of the most extravagant of the year. Enjoy the impressive military parade down the Champs-Élysées and then at night book yourselves onto a Evening Boat Cruise with special Bastille Day Menu to watch the amazing fireworks displays from the river.

After pedaling for three weeks and over 2,000 miles, cyclists in the world's most famous bicycle race complete the last leg of the race that takes them through the streets of Paris for the grand finale at the finish line on the Champs Élysées. If you're in Paris on Sunday, July 29, aim to get to the Champs-Élysées early to stake out your spot to watch the race go by or stop in a local café or restaurant. All eyes will be on the finish line! Please note that some of the metro stations will be closed during the afternoon – top tip: hear the applause from a slight distance at the nearby Tuileries gardens!

This summer, Paris continues its 31-year tradition of hosting the Quartier d’Été Festival. Also known as the Paris Summer Arts Festival, this is your chance to surround yourself with artistic showcases ranging from dance ensembles, theatrical acts and circus performances.
